From September 22 – 29, 2013 the German Film Museum will screen 46 outstanding feature films, short films, documentaries and animated films originating from 22 different countries. 440 Films applied to be featured at the festival. The productions come from Europe, Ethiopia, South Africa, Iran, Canada, Tunisia and the USA. There is also the first ever entry from Croatia. The popular ‘Reihe für Minis’, a series of short films aimed at four and five years olds, will once again feature in the festival programme.

A jury comprised of children and grown ups awards a prize fund of 7,500 Euros to the best feature film, with an additional 3,000 Euros going to the best short and the best animated short film. LUCAS will once again reward the best youth film as well as the first Sir Peter Ustinov best newcomer award. The European Children’s Film Association (ECFA) prize will also be given, who’s winner is decided upon by three European film experts. Every year the festival visitors choose their favourite film to win the LUCAS Audience Award.
